<p>An article from the Wall Street Journal has confirmed that both Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem mobile games will be Free to Play.</p><p>This is a model that could definitely benefit Animal Crossing - and actually makes a lot of sense - but it is unclear how it will work with a deep, story-driven experience like Fire Emblem.</p><p>This isn't an unexpected development as DeNA have previously gone on record to say that their initial smartphone games with Nintendo will 'rely on revenue from in-app microtransactions'.</p><p>The Wall Street Journal journalist spoke to DeNA where they confirmed that the games will be 'free to download' and this is 'increasing the likelihood that long-loved console game titles will rank high even in fiercely competitive app stores.'</p><p>Miitomo released earlier this year to mixed acclaim, and we're expecting both Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem to release this Autumn.</p><p>A further two mobile games featuring Nintendo IP will then release by March 2017.</p>Were you hoping for premium releases? While the mobile version was still a tad rough around the edges, it played well and looked quite wonderful.
